Indian students who require a visa to study in Ireland for more than 90 days generally need a long-stay ‘D’ study visa. The visa application requires evidence of admission, finances, insurance and other supporting documents. Here is a summary.

| After arrival | An Irish visa allows you to travel to Ireland. It does not give you permission to enter the country. Register your immigration permission as required. Eligible students normally receive Stamp 2 permission, which allows study and limited casual employment subject to the applicable conditions. |
International students holding Stamp 2 permission can work up to 20 hours per week during term time and up to 40 hours per week during the designated holiday periods: June, July, August and September, and from 15 December to 15 January. Irish immigration authorities also make clear that students must demonstrate sufficient funds and should not rely on casual employment to support themselves.
For graduates, the Third Level Graduate Programme provides a route to remain in Ireland after completing eligible Irish qualifications. The current immigration guidance states that eligible Level 8 graduates can remain in Ireland for a period of 12-month after they complete their studies.
