Career Launch

You may be in the middle of your UG studies be it any stream such as BA, BSc, B.Com or Engineering. You now want to know how to proceed from here. Should one look for a job, if so, what kind of jobs? Should one pursue PG studies, if so what studies? What is the way to prepare for one’s job or for entering a good PG program?

These and many other very significant questions require to be answered and thereby discover the correct path for one to pursue. If one plans to get a job, how does one prepare for it - supplementing the available academic knowledge? If one wants to pursue a PG program – which programs are good and how to make the selection mark? These questions are normal and many students deal with it without much difficulty. But for majority – this becomes the next stage of worry and anxiety after having crossed the first one, of successfully completing their graduation. Further, if one made the wrong choice of UG course, the challenge becomes further magnified. Whatever is the case, this is a very significant decision point in one’s life and proper direction and guidance becomes indispensable. Looking at it from a macro perspective – we are a nation that admits nearly 8 million students into various UG college programs each year. But when they pass out only a small percentage of those know what to do with their degree.

Evolution of business and business models constantly throws up new challenges and those who are enterprising manage to use such challenges to progress further. Hence, what every graduate must know is - what is the skill and quality demanded by an employer and how does one acquire it. Unfortunately, a large part of our academic system is not geared to answer this question and the student has to devise his own methods to find the answer.

Career launch is a service we provide – because we feel it is as critical as choosing a stream or UG course. Once again it boils down to discovering one’s intrinsic abilities, motivations and personal disposition. This provides the pointers to the right job or profession to choose. What then is required is to provide the necessary guidance and advice, to bridge the skills and competency gaps to match the standards desired by the employer or a PG institute.
